In Bas-Caraquet in 2020, the Acadian Peninsula’s first giant butterfly was born. What started out as a simple new tourist attraction at Bas-Caraquet beach has snowballed in the region. Inspired by the “Angel Wings”, an international tourist attraction, a symbol of Canada was created. Following the official inauguration of the Canadian tiger butterfly structure at Bas-Caraquet beach on June 17, 2021, several municipalities decided to participate in the project. To date, there are 15 butterflies on the Acadian Peninsula.
Today, the project is known as the ” Butterfly Route “, a tourist attraction with an educational twist. A descriptive sheet containing texts and photos about each butterfly is installed at each site.
